Paperless Office
Background
The paperless office was of course one of the ideals to strive for and
since I had a few computers I decided to work to creating a paperless office.
First I created a computer fax that would receive the faxes and I could preview
them before printing. I could easily delete the junk faxes and found that I
did not have to print very many faxes since the information was treated like emails.
I also installed a scanner and scanned every document and then filed it electronically.
I could then discard or file the original document.
When needed I could call up the document on the screen and
if I needed to produce a copy I could easily print the document.
Of course, many documents are created in a word processor, saved to the web as pdf
documents and available to email them if necessary.
In order to create the most original kind of document,
I scanned my signature so that I could actually send or print signed documents.
This system came in handy for small businesses who wanted to go paperless including
the medical field where all documents could be scanned in,
filled in online, printed with stored signatures if necessary
or simply faxed or emailed.
Certainly this paperless system would save on storage space for medical records.
