The Educator-Technologist is a specialist who fills a certain specific need in education, the merging of technology into the learning environment in a way that is compatible with learning goals. It covers classroom learning in hi-tech, lo-tech, and no-tech environments as well as philosophies of education and technology. Transparency of technology is one of the measureable goals of implementing a successful classroom protocol.
Every user or consumer of technology needs a philosophy of technology. Most have an attitude toward technology or an idea of a relationship with technology but few put in any effort to develop a philosophy of technology. Those responsible for deployment of technology still by and large lack a philosophy of technology. Rather they develop rules, policies and best practices which they determine from research papers and consumer articles. They also develop attitudes and beliefs through tech advertising though few will admit to this pervasive and plentiful source of propaganda.
An Educator-Technologist operates from a Philosophy of Education and a Philosophy of Technology.
